World Mental Health Day @ St Nicholas Hospital Oct 10th 11am-2pm

Celebrate World Mental Health Day and the 150th birthday of St Nicholas Hospital on Thursday 10th October 2019 at the Jubilee Theatre, St Nicholas Hospital, 11am - 2pm 11.00: Welcome and introduction – Ken Jarrold, Chair, CBE 11.10: The play “Clear White Light”, set in St Nicholas Hospital, is on its second run at Live Theatre, from 19 September - 12 October and features the songs of the late Alan Hull of Lindisfarne – some of which were written when Alan was working as a nurse at the hospital. We’re delighted that we will have with us Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell, who play and sing in “Clear White Light” and are formerly of Lindisfarne, plus play director Joe Douglas. Heads & Tales, Mental Health Heritage Project 1st-31st October Foyer, Newcastle City Library Showcasing a small but complex and diverse collection of items, information, audio and artworks from a new mental health archive for the North East. Exploring, challenging and rebalancing representation of mental health through lived experience. HEADS & TALES is a 2 year project to create a new heritage archive for the North East exploring, rebalancing and celebrating the voice of adults experiencing mental health conditions. This project is shaped and led by participants, volunteers and staff who are directly or indirectly affected by mental health issues. Led by Chilli Studios, a Mental Health Focused Art Studio, and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
